Puzzle Abyss | Character design

I made the art for a whole game demo last winter!
The name's Puzzle Abyss. This is part of my contribution, this time as an character concept artist: an arcade title inspired by the intersection of futuristic aesthetics and human identity. Thank you Chris for the huge opportunity!

This is the first character design I've done in a hot minute. She's the main playable character. She is a replica of humankind of sorts, reprogrammed as a human-like robot in a post-apocalyptic era. The design needs to show an ambiguous bridge between a human soul and robotic features. Besides that, we wanted to create a fun design that takes inspiration from a couple early 2000s sci-fi japanese IPs and their unique take on female bodies and fashion.

(iterations that show her interacting with the environment are missing. hopefully I can resume this project sometime in the future)

Knowing that I tend to limit myself on shape explorations, I tried to go wham on the first round. Though the client already had a pretty clear idea on the character.
